A new brand to believe in

The “Made in Melbourne” project

With the old trusted Australian icons hollowing out and shipping back in it is time for a new generation of Australian brands to step up and be recognised. By creating a brand mark which identifies specifically that the items manufacture has its base here consumers will have clear choices about how they contribute to the Australian economy. The current focus for the idea is centred on the greater Melbourne/Victoria area as a starting point. The above graphic was developed for a new Melbourne company last year. The idea is not limited to Melbourne only. Please excuse the bias as the idea is in a very early stage. If you are from another state, apply the same thinking to your own locale.

This is a call to all enterprises operating with manufacturing bases in Australia to become involved in this project.

We first see if this approach has support then form a case for government implementation. The first stage is to gather a list of companies who's business philosophy supports an Australian manufacturing base. By logging into the forum your company is added to the support list.

Branding a Suburb

dsy_vert_neg.png

A small group of local businesses and individuals gathered together in the interest of fostering prosperity and goodwill in the area. Being part South Yarra, part Melbourne City Council and mostly park land leaves the area somewhat isolated/insulated from centralised agendas.

Following discussion of the idea, Vivid Communications (itself located in Millswyn Street) embarked on creating an identity and web site as a focal point for the people of the area to engage with.

The pocket of South Yarra bordered by St Kilda Road, Punt Road, FawknerPark and the Botanical Gardens is one of Melbourne’s most attractive, relaxed and sophisticated localities. It offers an extremely uniqueexperience of Melbourne. One where the very best cultural aspects ofmodern city living can be indulged with a fresh air nature stroll. Now you can visit it here.

Company Brand Development

Fleurage offers an elegant, sensuous approach to personal scenting steeped in the traditions of quality perfumes, skin finery and bathing rituals from ages past. An Art Deco world of the 30’s was the ideal choice of design era for this brand. Located in Millwsyn Street South Yarra, the salon is a quiet, friendly and relaxed evironment for the selection of fragrance. The entire fitout is of the era, in a building of the 1940's with a product that is made according to the methods that were called to a halt by world war two.

An entirely new Art Deco typeface was developed to extend the branding as well as packaging design and promotion for a range of over 200 products for opening.
